A German organ donor helped three Bulgarians get a new life

A German woman has given three seriously ill Bulgarians a chance at life after a donor situation arose at St Marina University Hospital in Varna. The 50-year-old woman was declared brain dead and her relatives immediately made the noble decision to donate the organs. The woman was a German citizen and resided temporarily in Bulgaria.

Her foreign citizenship made it necessary for the health authorities to contact the authorities in Germany to get approval for the organ donation - two kidneys and a liver.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Health expresses its sincere condolences to the relatives of the deceased and thanks them for the humane gesture.
