The traffic on the borders with Greece, Serbia and Romania is intense, the Bulgarian Border Police reported. The situation at all checkpoints with Turkey and North Macedonia is normal.

The traffic to Romania for trucks is delayed on the way out at Kardam and Vidin while the traffic for cars and trucks on the way in is intense along the entire border.

The flow of cars entering and exiting at all checkpoints with Greece is strong. The border authorities recommend that citizens use the other border crossings in addition to the Kulata and Makaza checkpoints to cross.

On the border with Serbia, traffic is intense at the Kalotina passenger car entrance. The Border Police advises travelers to use the remaining checkpoints on the Bulgarian-Serbian border: Bregovo, Vrashka Chuka, Strezimirovtsi and Oltomantsi.

Kalotina border checkpoint between Bulgaria and Serbia
The Bulgarian National Television reports about blocked tourist buses at Kalotina, where they have to wait more than 6 hours to cross the 3-kilometer section before the border. The reason is thousands of cars with migrants workers (gastarbeiter) from Western Europe travelling to Turkey. The situation is also complicated by the increased heavy traffic. Despite warnings of huge traffic jams on the road from Nis to Sofia and attempts by drivers to avoid the traffic jams by taking the old road, access to the Bulgarian border remains extremely difficult.
