NSI: International travel doubled in 2023 compared to levels in 2022

Bulgarian nationals' international travel increased by 16.1% in June compared to last year, according to a survey by the National Statistical Institute. Their total number amounted to 790 300. 

The highest number of travels was to Turkey - 214 900, Greece - 199 000, Romania - 58 200, Serbia - 53 700, Germany - 46 500. Other popular destinations are Italy, Spain, Austria, France and the United Kingdom.

Visits of foreign nationals to the country in June also increased - by 23% compared to the same month last year. A total of 1,392,100 people visited Bulgaria - mainly for holidays and excursions.
