PM Denkov: Steps for the termination of Rosenets port concession are stipulated in the contract

Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov said that the concession of the port of Rosenets can be terminated, as the necessary actions for this are described in the contract. Referring to the proposal of the We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB), GERB-SDS and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) to terminate the two-year derogation for the Lukoil refinery to work with Russian oil, Denkov said that there was no final decision of Parliament, but the economic risks of such a step were being analysed. 

"It is important the refinery operates without any disruption so that Bulgaria and the region can be supplied with the necessary fuels at prices suitable for the population," the prime minister said in response to a question from Russian news agency TASS.

"It will be difficult to manage without a working refinery in the country, regardless of who runs it. We have no infrastructure, we have no rail cars and no road transport to carry sea imported oil products inland. According to the latest European Commission reports, in both Greece and Romania the production cost of fuel is 15-25 cents higher than that of the refinery in Bulgaria, which means that prices will be higher," Svetoslav Benchev of the Bulgarian Oil and Gas Association told BNR.
