Plovdiv Jazz Summer festival starts today in Plovdiv with a concert of the virtuoso Bulgarian clarinetist Ivo Papazov-Ibryama and Trakia Orchestra, their style artfully blending jazz with folk motifs.

This year's festival will take place in two stages - one in the Orpheus summer cinema from August 4-6, and the other in the village of Markovo on August 25-26. The second festival evening in Plovdiv will feature performances by the Antoni Donchev Jazz Quartet and the Eva Quartet. Ethno jazz trumpeter from Greece, Pantelis Stoikos, will also be a guest. On 6 August the international Destino Tango Trio will take to the stage, featuring the voice of Cristina Vilallonga of the Gotan Project.
