Syrian national charged with migrant smuggling

The Sofia District Prosecutor's Office brought to criminal responsibility a Syrian citizen who illegally helped foreign nationals to cross into Bulgaria, BTA reported citing the Prosecutor‘s Office.The man, who was transporting seven Syrian migrants in his car, was detained on “Todor Alexandrov” Boulevard in Sofia on August 8. 

Pre-trial procedings have been initiated in this case. The Syrian national was detained for 72 hours. A request is to be submitted to the court to decide on his remand in custody.
