Movie with Bulgarian participation receives prize at Locarno Film Festival

Dimitra Vlagopoulou received the Locarno Film Festival award for best acting performance in the movie "Animal". The film by Greek writer-director Sofia Exarchou is a co-production of Greece, Austria, Romania, Cyprus and Bulgaria and was among the 17 films competing for the Golden Leopard award of the 76th edition of the festival in Switzerland.

The movie focuses on a group of animators hired to make sure guests to an all-inclusive resort stay entertained the whole time.

"Animal" was filmed with the financial support of "Euroimage" and with Bulgarian state financial support. Bulgarian co-producer is Ivan Tonev. Bulgarian Ivaylo Stefanov also worked on the film as a digital image technician.
