Bulgarian embroidery festival will take place in the period September 22 to 24 in Vancouver and it is organised by the Bulgarian-Canadian Society of British Columbia. The festival is called "Kanatitza" after a type of traditional symbol used in embroidery, the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Toronto, Canada has announced on Facebook.
The aim is to show many Bulgarian folklore traditions in one place, as well the Bulgarian footprint in the history of world embroidery and folklore motifs, the publication reads. Participants from Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, Denver, Los Angeles, San Diego and Vancouver are expected to join the festival. A special guest from Bulgaria will be Dilyana Kurdova who will present her book "Thoughts on Bulgarian Women's Traditional Costume".
