Nurgyul Salimova qualifies for the final of the Women's Chess World Cup in Baku

Nurgyul Salimova has qualified for the final of the Women's Chess World Cup in Baku. In the semifinals, the twenty-year-old Bulgarian grandmaster eliminated Anna Muzychuk of Ukraine by 3.5:2.5 points. In the rapid chess tiebreak, Salimova won by 2.5:1.5 points after the two chess players had drawn twice in the classical chess games. In the final, Nurgyul Salimova will face Aleksandra Goryachkina (Russia), seeded No 2 in the tournament.

By qualifying for the final of the Women's Chess World Cup, Nurgyul Salimova also secured a spot in the 2024 Challengers Tournament, which will determine the challenger for the 2024 World Chess Championship match.
