A heavy duty truck with Turkish registration blocked Danube bridge at Ruse this morning, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports. The truck was speeding which caused a defect in one of the bridge joints which perforated and detached the truck reservoir and led to a fuel spill. No injuries have been reported. Traffic in both direction remains blocked until the vehicle is removed. Specialized vehicles are in place to tow the truck. Single-lane traffic is to be restored for cars until the bridge is repaired. Trucks will be stopped at Ruse, but also at Veliko Turnovo and Stara Zagora.
