Bulgarian anesthesiologist Dr. Petar Dimitrov was part of the team that performed the first-ever womb transplant in the UK, BNR Plovdiv has reported. The 34-year-old patient was born with the rare Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, which is characterized by an underdeveloped or absent uterus. Dr. Dimitrov is from Zlatograd, he graduated in medicine from the Medical University in Plovdiv and since 2003 has been living and working in Great Britain.
