Bulgaria’s Petar Mitsin has won the 400 m. freestyle event at the World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships in Netanya, Israel.
The 18-year old swimmer from the club Vihren, Sandanski, who holds the record in this event, clocked 3:46.49 minutes, ahead of Italy’s Alessandro Ragaini (3:46.66) and Filippo Bertoni (3:48.73).
This makes Petar Mitsin the first Bulgarian to have won a world title in a 50-metre pool. He is to take part in three more events at the championships – 200 m. and 800 m. freestyle, and 200 m. butterfly.
