The Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water has asked the Romanian Ministry of Environment for additional information about the construction of an incinerator in the town of Giurgiu.

The reason for taking this step are the concerns of the people of the Bulgarian city of Ruse about air quality and the environment which can be degraded by the construction of the incinerator in the Romanian city. The Bulgarian Environment Ministry is demanding information with a sufficient amount of facts, data, research and analyses, and the conclusions formulated regarding the degree of risk posed to the health of the population of Ruse if the investment proposal is put through.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water has handed their Romanian counterparts the positions received in the course of the consultations held, as well as the position of citizen associations in Ruse.
