President Radev: Bulgaria must convince Austrian public that it deserves to be part of Schengen

In order to join Schengen, we need to convince the public in Austria, not only the politicians, that Bulgaria is a reliable member of the EU, protects its borders well and deserves to be part of this space, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev said at the UN headquarters. Earlier, Rumen Radev held talks with his Austrian counterpart Alexander Van der Bellen.

President Radev recalled that he had visited Austria twice in the space of six months at the invitation of Chancellor Karl Nehammer and President Van der Bellen to present his positions not only to politicians, but also to public figures, media, diplomats and academia. I therefore encourage Premier Denkov to pay a visit to Austria as soon as possible. He should invite Karl Nehammer as I invited him, and we went to the border together", Rumen Radev said.
