Government and farmers sign memorandum

A memorandum between the government and farmers was signed at the Council of Ministers. "After a false start, the important thing is that we finished successfully," said Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov joking at a briefing after the signing. "In a constructive negotiation, like we had yesterday and today, there are no losers, no losers, everybody wins," he added.
Earlier that day, the farmers' protest was called off. Minister of Agriculture Kiril Vatev thanked the farmers for the constructive proposals made during the negotiations and voiced his hope that this cooperation would create a favourable environment for the development of Bulgarian agriculture and more Bulgarian products on the table.
The Ministry of Agriculture is starting to develop a set of long-term policies related to Bulgarian agriculture. Denkov apologised to the farmers for having offended them by using the word "terrorists" and explained that he had not used it to refer to them, but to the people who had refused to accept his invitation for dialogue.
