GERB-SDS nominated Anton Hekimyan as a candidate for Mayor of Sofia. He was registered at the Municipal Election Commission. Anton Hekimyan was born on May 22, 1984, in the town of Stara Zagora. Until recently, he was Director of News and Current Affairs at bTV, where he started as an intern. Anton Hekimyan will also lead GERB's list of nominees for municipal councilors in the Sofia Municipal Council. During the registration at the Municipal Election Commission, Anton Hekimyan said that he had received assurance from GERB that he would be able to make his own decisions. He also explained that he is used to being in front of the camera for years and has nothing to hide.

"I have lived in Sofia for 20 years. It was September 29, (2003 - еd.) when I first came to the capital. All this time I have criticized, condemned actions that have taken place in the Sofia Municipality and I have taken a personal stance on every single case that has happened here. Every morning we have been showing (on screen - ed.) reports and cases concerning Sofia.

''The capital should be an even more modern and green city, and be open to investments. I place emphasis on education, because it will bring even more potential and personnel to the city and will develop it'', said Anton Hekimyan. Boyko Borissov himself did not attend the presentation of the candidate, but Hekimyan stressed that Borissov had personally invited him to be a candidate for mayor of Sofia.
