"My long-time friend and supporter Fico won the elections in Slovakia. I congratulate you, Robert," wrote on Facebook the leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party Korneliya Ninova.

"No to the war in Ukraine. No to gender ideology and the Istanbul Convention. When the two of us met six years ago, we shook hands to fight against the EU's migrant policy and against the creeping imposition of a third gender besides male and female. At that time, we were called the black sheep of our European family - the Party of European Socialists. But that did not stop us. Although late, although difficult, our views are beginning to gain the upper hand. Slovakia has seen the light and stood up to neoliberalism. Let us hope that Bulgaria will soon do the same", Ninova added in her message, quoted by the Bulgarian news agency BGNES.

Robert Fico, won Slovakia's parliamentary election on Saturday by appealing to anti-western and pro-Russian sentiment. He will be on the head of the country for the fourth time after once again shifting political gears to appeal to a changing electorate, Reuters comments.
