Protesting miners and energy workers come up with 6 demands

Photo: BGNES

The miners and energy workers who have been protesting for several days set six conditions for lifting the roadblocks.

They are demanding that Bulgaria’s recovery and resilience plan be renegotiated; the functioning of the thermal power plants in their full capacity guaranteed up until 2038; an energy strategy developed; the liberalization of the energy market for household consumers postponed; as well as transparency of the investment procedures and the scrapping of the territorial just transition plans for the coal-mining areas.

The protesters demanded a meeting at the National Assembly with the leaders of the parliamentary groups, and stated they will only start negotiations on lifting the roadblocks after they have signed an agreement with them.
