Miners and energy industry workers are discussing effective strike action

A petition will be launched in mines and workshops on Tuesday, at the latest, for launching effective strike action – this idea is being discussed by the miners and energy workers who have been blocking Trakia motorway for ten days.

They will call a national protest, most probably on Thursday, at which they will announce this measure of last resort as a means of demanding that the territorial just transition plans be withdrawn from the European institutions and re-drafted in accordance with their demands.

The protesters are also discussing how to demand guarantees for their jobs in the short and long-term. The protesting miners and workers at thermal power stations agreed the roadblocks must remain in place during the effective strike. “We are ready to go on strike, and the strike will go on for as long as possible,” they say.
