An exhibition of the first photographs of space objects taken by the new 1.5 metre telescope at the National Astronomical Observatory Rozhen opens today in the central lobby of the Bulgarian academy of Sciences building.
The shots show the Pillars of Creation in the Eagle nebula in the constellation Seprens, the planet Jupiter, starts, nebulae, galaxies, star clusters, interstellar gas and dust formations.
The exposition also traces the stages of the construction of the telescope in the past two years right up until 1 July when it was put into service. The photographs were made by Senior Assist. Professor Milen Minev and processed by astronomer and opera singer Emil Ivanov.
