PM Denkov: There is no plan B for Schengen

Bulgaria is 100% focused on receiving a positive response for Schengen in December. "At the moment there is no plan B, our entire focus is on plan A". This is what PM Nikolai Denkov said after the tripartite meeting between the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria, Romania and Greece held in Euxinograd Residence near Varna, in response to a journalist's question about the possible moves of the country if it was not admitted to Schengen together with Romania on January 1, 2024.

"The accession of Bulgaria and Romania will increase the level of our collective security, which means better control of the external borders. By the end of the year, I hope that we will make a working decision on Schengen", said vice-president of the European Union Margaritis Schinas, who also took part in the meeting.
