The section of the Europe Motorway from Slivnitsa to Dragoman has been completed. The 15-kilometre section creates conditions for faster and more complete transport connectivity with Serbia, Bulgaria’s Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov and the country’s Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Andrey Tsekov noted.

"By building this connectivity with Serbia, we can already say that Asia is closer to Europe", Georgi Gvozdeykov pointed out. In his words, the trip from Sofia to Kalotina took hours, but in 2024 the distance will be covered in less than half an hour. In 2024 we will open the last section of the Europe Motorway from Slivnitsa to Sofia", said Minister Gvozdeykov. The road section from Kalotina to Dragoman was completed in an extremely difficult period amid a Covid-19 crisis, high inflation and a political crisis spanning 3 regular and 4 caretaker governments, Minister Andrey Tsekov said. The Europe Motorway is being built with EU funding worth EUR 300 million.
