Citizens gather in Sofia in solidarity with Palestinian people

Dozens of citizens gathered in front of the National Palace of Culture in the center of Sofia in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Some of them carried Palestinian flags. There is an increased police presence in the area. "I am a Bulgarian citizen. I am here to support the Palestinians as this is not the first time Israel is attacking Gaza and destroying everything. At the moment, the situation in Gaza is becoming very dangerous. People are left with no food, water and electricity, which in my opinion is inhuman," a participant in the rally said.

Earlier today, the Sofia Municipality banned a march organized by the Committee for Defense of Jerusalem. The decision was made on the basis of opinions of the State Agency for National Security and the Sofia Directorate of the Interior.

Meanwhile, with 124 votes MPs adopted a declaration in support of Israel after the "cruel, unprecedented and audacious terrorist attack against innocent citizens on October 7". The National Assembly called on the international community for solidarity with Israel, holding Hamas and all terrorist organizations accountable, stopping rocket attacks and kidnappings, and for releasing kidnapped civilians.
