Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev has referred to the Constitutional Court the amendments to the Law on the Protection of Agricultural Lands, introduced with changes to the Law on Energy from Renewable Sources, with which he does not agree.

The changes remove almost all restrictions on the placement of RES installations on arable land, which creates the risk of uncontrolled construction on high-quality agricultural areas and pastures of any type of energy production facilities - wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal or energy from biomass and biofuels.

According to the president, this contradicts the Constitution, according to which land is the main national wealth, and arable land is used only for agricultural needs.
