The Sofia city Prosecutor’s Office is to initiate a probe into a report by investigator Petyo Petrov a.k.a. the Euro (who is wanted for corruption – editorial note), said Hristo Krastev, Deputy Head of Sofia City Prosecutor's Office for 24 Chasa newspaper.

According to the report, “the Euro” handed EUR 5,000 a month to Teodora Georgieva who is a Bulgarian Prosecutor at the European Public Prosecutor's Office, EPPO, in the period 2019-2023. In exchange, she made rulings on EPPO pre-litigation procedures. According to the news agency BGNES, the report has also been sent to the parliamentary anti-corruption committee and to European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi.

“We are launching a probe in connection with the report which has a signature, whether it really is Petyo Petrov’s signature I cannot say,” Hristo Krastev commented.

Petyo Petrov disappeared at the end of May, 2023 and his whereabouts are still unknown.
