Private second pension funds register negative financial performance

The financial performance of the additional, obligatory and voluntary pension funds is mostly negative for the past two years, over the period from 30 September, 2021 until 29 September 2023, the Financial Supervision Commission had announced.

According to the Commission, with the most widespread universal funds, to which all persons born after 31 December, 1959 are obligated to make contributions for a second pension, the financial performance is minus 2.58%. Only one out of the nine funds has registered a positive financial performance at 1.47%. The financial performance of the professional funds, also 9 in number, is minus 1.82 per 100, with only two registering a positive performance.

According to latest data, the assets of the pension funds are in excess of the record EUR 10.5 billion, and the number of insured persons in them is almost 5 million.
