The big fire near the villages of Ponor and Bezden, Kostinbrod municipality, and Vasilovtsi, Dragoman municipality, has been extinguished. Firefighters, forest officials and volunteers fought the fire, which spread over an area of about 1,200 acres of oak and pine forests.
11 fire trucks were used, but because of the strong wind, extinguishing the smoldering fires from the air proved impossible.

The situation was brought under control without requiring the evacuation of distressed people from the three villages in the Sofia region.
