The Central Election Commission (CEC) has made the decision that voting at tomorrow’s local election shall be by paper ballots only.

Nevertheless, according to Ciela Norma, the company that owns the voting machines, the transportation of voting machines has begun and they have arrived at some of the regional centres, without the permission of the CEC. In connection with this, an urgent letter has been sent to the interior minister and the director of the gendarmerie requesting the return of the machines.

In an interview with public service TV BNT, CEC chair Kameliya Neykova stated that the right to vote of the electorate will be ensured with the use of paper ballots. Kameliya Neykova added that the CEC will issue instructions to municipal and section election commissions regarding their work on election day.
