The best option for Romania and Bulgaria is to enter the Schengen area together and "all negotiations and all attempts to convince those who have reservations on this matter are aimed at this". This is what Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said today during his visit to Belgium at a joint press conference with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo, BTA reported.

Iohannis' words came after in an interview published yesterday with the Bloomberg agency, Romanian Prime Ion-Marcel Ciolacu said that Bucharest might consider a separate path from Bulgaria's efforts to become a member of Schengen if that would lead to a better result.

"There are no indications that Bulgaria and Romania are on different tracks for Schengen," Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov said today, answering citizens' questions on current topics via Facebook.
