The Arena Arda stadium in the town of Kardzhali is ready to host the European football qualification between the national teams of Bulgaria and Hungary on November 16, announced Kardzhali mayor Erol Mümün. UEFA is expected to confirm the match after the Municipality of Plovdiv refused to provide the Hristo Botev stadium to the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) due to repairs.

BFU President Borislav Mihailov called on the state to allow the Bulgaria-Hungary match to take place because the country will be kicked out of UEFA and "the consequences will be catastrophic". He stated that the refusal of the municipality of Plovdiv to accept the match is state interference in the work of the Bulgarian Football Union which is inadmissible under UEFA rules.

The Bulgarian Football Union requested that the match be played outside Sofia and without an audience, because it is afraid of protests by fans against the management of Bulgarian football.
