The parliamentary groups of We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria (PP/DB), GERB/SDS and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) reached agreement on the parametres of the national budget for 2024, at a meeting attended by Finance Minister Assen Vassilev (PP/DB). The principal change is that the budget expenditure will be cut down by 2.4 billion Leva (a little over EUR 1.2 billion), the planned sum that should come from Gazprom for the transit of Russian gas. This will make the budget more realistic.

Agreement was also reached that the derogation for Russian oil shallbe abolished in two steps – as of 1 January when the export quotas will be done away with, and as of 1 March when the derogation will be scrapped altogether.

On Wednesday, 22 November, GERB/SDS and the MRF are going be in parliament and are going to vote against the motion of no confidence in the government of Nikolai Denkov, submitted by the opposition over national security and defence.
