More cameras will be used for speed control on Bulgarian roads

The cameras of Bulgaria's National Toll Office have already been certified and can be used for speed control, Minister of Regional Development Andrey Tsekov told Nova TV.

Over 300 frames are fitted with cameras capable of detecting both instantaneous and average speed. However, when they will start exercising control will depend only on the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the minister stressed.

"The camera management system has an integration module with the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, so they could use the cameras and in theory it could be done today," he added. According to him, the devices are still detecting, but the offenders do not receive a speed violation ticket since the cameras are not used for these purposes.
