The Sofia Municipal Council will again try to elect a chairman today. On Saturday, November 18, the new Mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev invited representatives of different formations in the council for talks. At the meeting it became clear that the Bulgarian Socialist Party and Vazrazhdane will not support the candidate of We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria-Save Sofia Boris Bonev.
GERB and There is Such a People refused to attend the meeting. ''In the election campaign, Boris Bonev was promised to become chairman of the municipal council in exchange for Vasil Terziev’s nomination. Now we are asked to pay the price that was promised by Vasil Terziev", said Georgi Georgiev from GERB, quoted by BTA. The Sofia Municipal Council failed to elect a chairman at its first session on November 13.
The Coalition We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria-Save Sofia secured 23 seats in Sofia’s Municipal Council, but they are not enough to form a majority.
