The capital's city council has failed in its second attempt to elect its chairman. None of the candidates for the second most important post in Sofia received the 31 votes needed to be elected.

We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria - Save Sofia candidate Boris Bonev had 23 votes. BSP candidate Diana Tonova had 9 votes. Vazrazhdane candidate Krassimir Galabov received 8 votes, and There Is Such a People candidate Plamen Danailov got 3 votes. The GERB-SDS municipal councillors did not take part in the vote. Bonev will face Tonova in the second round.

At the beginning of the meeting, GERB-SDS asked the new mayor, Vassil Terziev, to introduce his team and the deputy mayor for ecology to be heard on the planned budget for the city's sanitation. Mayor Terziev promised to continue negotiations with the political forces in the council to form a governing majority.
