The President set to veto the 2024 budget.

There are no precedents for a presidential veto on the draft state budget. But if Parliament does not bring the Finance Minister to his senses, I do not rule out such a possibility, President Rumen Radev told journalists in Burgas. The head of state said that we are witnessing a series of risky ventures in the financial sector. 

The Finance Minister's intention to sell the State Land Fund was unacceptable, the President said. Mr Radev stressed that this land is a strategic resource and cannot be wasted for current budgetary needs or to compensate for the inability to manage state finances. According to Radev, this also opens the door to abuse. I call on wise politicians from all parties to stop this adventure," the President added.
