The Russian delegation will take part in the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Foreign Ministers' meeting in Skopje, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. According to him, Bulgaria has assured North Macedonia that it will open its airspace to the Russian plane carrying Lavrov and a delegation of about 80.

"Macedonia invited us to the annual meeting of OSCE foreign ministers. Allegedly, Sofia assured Skopje that it would open up Bulgaria's airspace. If that happens, we will be there," Lavrov said, according to TASS.

76 delegations from OSCE member states and partners are expected in Skopje on 29 November. Lavrov can travel to an EU country or Northern Macedonia despite being on the European sanctions list imposed against Russia over the war in Ukraine, the European Commission confirmed, BTA reported.

Days after Moscow launched its war against Ukraine, Brussels closed EU airspace to Russian flights.
