North Macedonia hopes to continue its cooperation with Bulgaria on joint energy projects, the country's ambassador to Skopje, Agneza Rusi Popovska, said during a meeting in Sofia with Energy Minister Rumen Radev.

H.E. Ms Popovska said that her country was interested in buying capacity at the Chiren gas storage facility, acquiring a stake in the Alexandroupolis LNG terminal and in the development of the second interconnector project between Bulgaria and North Macedonia. According to Agneza Rusi Popovska, North Macedonia will also rely on Bulgaria's support in synchronising its national legislation with that of the European Union.

Minister Radev said that in terms of energy connectivity, the capacity of the existing gas connection had already been increased by 500,000 cubic metres, but that electricity connectivity was also essential. He also emphasised the need to synchronise the work of the two countries' power exchange operators.
