Foundation raises funds for a monument to national hero Vasil Levski in Burgas

A charity bazaar is being held today in Bourgas to help raise funds to build a monument to Vasil Levski. 

"There will be handmade decorations, Christmas cards, paintings and souvenirs provided by several local schools and artists from all over Bulgaria, as well as the by clergy of Bourgas," said Velina Dimitrova of the Proud Bulgarians Foundation, the initiator of the event.

The 3.5-metre-high monument will be erected on Atanas Sirekov Square in front of the Municipality building and will be made by sculptor Radostin Damaskov entirely from donations. It will cost about 255,000 euro, including the construction and installation work, the lighting and the production of a bronze figure of a man and a lion.
