Clear deadlines for Schengen air and sea borders are being discussed with Austria

I call on the authorities, even though they already lost 2 months, to use the remaining days until the New Year in order to guarantee us full acceptance in Schengen. I remind you that with diplomacy and efforts we managed to achieve a clear commitment during the caretaker government. Unfortunately, this impulse was not developed but we erected a barrier instead, President Rumen Radev said at the Sofia Airport upon his departure for a visit to Kosovo.

Negotiations on Schengen are continuing, Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov said. Texts that are mutually acceptable for Austria, Bulgaria and Romania are being discussed. "What we are currently discussing are clear deadlines for the air and sea borders and it seems an agreement would be reached. We are also discussing a mechanism that would open the land borders," the prime minister also said.
