Bulgarians in the UK with wonderful surprise for ethno singer DIA

Photo: Petar Simeonov
Talented ethno singer DIA received an unorthodox present. Her songs are popular in more than 20 countries, and as proof, the charming singer received a special gift – a special video. The performer of Samovila was given a surprise by her fans in London, who made a video of her fans singing and dancing to the sound of one of her most popular songs – Burn me!
“As it turns out, they are from the folklore choir Magic from London,” DIA says. “I was told that its members are mostly Bulgarian immigrants but they are joined by their English friends. Their aim is to popularize Bulgarian folklore using modern accompaniment.”
The choir’s mission fully coincides with DIA’s musical vision and style – the singer’s team say. The young performer renders folk songs in a modern way but creates original folklore as well. She has shared her love of ancient Bulgarian legends and customs on social media. Numerous Bulgarian fans, as well as foreigners have been showing an interest in her work, and have been writing comments.
DIA says she receives videos from people who dance to her songs – in China, Germany, even India, with her Indian fans recreating one of her most unorthodox songs, which, during her appearances, always brings audiences up to their feet, as they try to fall into step for an improvised horo dance – Fire
