The expected spectacular semifinals match in Brisbane between Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov and former No 1 seed Rafael Nadal is not going to take place after Nadal fell in the quarterfinals to Australia’s Jordan Thompson.

At the quarterfinals, Dimitrov won against Rinky Hijikata, Australia in two sets (6-1, 6-4), and will be playing against Jordan Thompsonon the way to a second title from an ATP tennis tournament. “I now have to do some things differently. I use my experience, my body feels good and I feel more freedom on the court,” said Grigor Dimitrov after the end of the match, as he was applauded by the Bulgarians fans.

If Grigor Dimitrov wins this match, at the finals he will be vying with top-seed Holger Rune, Denmark or Roman Safiullin, Russia.
