Pensions in Bulgaria are received for the shortest period on average in EU

Bulgaria is the European Union member country where pensions are received for the shortest amount of time. The payment of retirement pensions in EU member states continue between 15 and 25 years, on average. In Bulgaria, men receive a pension for an average period of 14 years, and women for almost 19 years. 
This was reported by the head of the National Social Security Institute, Ivaylo Ivanov, for the BNR. The analysis of the pension system in Bulgaria should be ready by the end of this year, he added.

The conditions for acquiring the right to a pension for insurance length of service and age in Bulgaria to date are age 62 years and 2 months and length of service of 36 years and 6 months for women, and age of 64 years and 7 months and length of service for men of 39 years years and 6 months.
