Workers in Sofia's public transport are to protest at 8 am on January 18 demanding a 30% wage increase, the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions (CITUB) said. The protest is organised by the Federation of Transport TUs of CITUB. It will be held in Druzhba residential district at the last stop of several bus lines (4, 88, 204, 304, 384 and H4).

Wages in the sector are being eaten up by inflation, resulting in staff shortage and overtime exceeding 500,000 hours in 2023. This has a negative impact on the safety of public transport, CITUB further said.
