“We are systematically seeing positions by Vazrazhdane which are anti-European and which quite often correspond to the interests of a country which has declared us a hostile country,” Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov told reporters, as quoted by the Bulgarian news agency BTA. Although he did not state the name of the country in question, he is obviously referring to Russia which included Bulgaria in its list of “unfriendly countries” in 2021.

The Bulgarian prime minister expressed concern over the fact that Vazrazhdane party is taking over the parliamentary Committee for Control of the Security Services thanks to the so-called principle of rotation. “This is an issue parliament has to resolve,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Movement for Rights and Freedoms MP Delyan Peevski demanded urgent changes to the National Assembly’s rules of organization and procedure, so that the Committee shall be chaired by a permanent chairperson.
