A Sea Survival Centre has opened in Varna. The most modern deep-water pool in the Balkans is located in the Naval Academy in the city. Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov and Minister of Defense Todor Tagarev were present at the official opening.
The deep-water pool will be used as a simulator by military divers from Bulgaria and other countries. The depth of the facility ranges from 3 to 5 meters and it is equipped with a system for generating waves, artificial smoke and other specialized devices, allowing to create conditions close to the real ones.
The center was financed by the state with over 1.5 million euros. Similar facilities have also been built in Romania, Turkey and Ukraine, BNR correspondent Daniela Stoynova reported from Varna.
