"Dreaming" - that's the name of the painting by Georges Papazoff which is already part of the collection of the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. This is the first canvas of the Bulgarian artist to be in the collection of the French National Museum of Modern Art, BTA claims. The painting was created in 1925 with oil paints and sand, on a canvas measuring 72.5 x 60 cm.

The unique talent of Georges Papazoff was noticed a year ago, when the director of the National Museum of Modern Art of France, Xavier Rey, arrived in Bulgaria at the invitation of the French Institute, in connection with the exhibition "Georges Papazoff - The Illuminator" in the National Gallery. Then Radio Bulgaria brought you an meeting with Xavier Rey - see the interview of Maria Stoeva from the French section of Radio Bulgaria.

During his visit to Sofia, the French guest was sincerely impressed by Georges Papazoff's work and expressed his great regret that the Centre Pompidou owns no work by him. Even then, in a private conversation between him and the collector Georgi Vasilev, whose collection formed the backbone of the exhibition, negotiations began for the donation of a painting to the French museum, according to the BTA announcement.

Art historians hope that as part of the collection of the French National Museum of Modern Art, Papazoff's painting will contribute to the illumination of the Bulgarian artist as one of the most prominent representatives of surrealism and world art of the first half of the 20th century.
