Bulgarian farmers are ready to protest

The branch organizations from the agricultural sector have not yet decided whether farmers will hold a national protest, BNT reported. Meetings are to be held withing the associations to discuss what was greed yesterday at a meeting with the prime minister. According to Simeon Karakolev, co-chairman of the National Sheep and Goat Breeding Association, the government covered 90% of their financial demands.

The government has promised to allocate EUR 75 million for livestock farmers, dairy processors and fruit and vegetable producers. However, Prime Minister Denkov has not named specific amounts and producers will need to prove that they are making losses.

Minister of Agriculture and Food, Kiril Vatev, has met with the representatives of branch organizations that protested in front of the ministry today, the Ministry of Health reported.
