Bulgaria’s Minister of Energy and Bulgaria’s Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev met with the United States Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm in Washington, the Energy Ministry reported. They discussed cooperation in energy technology for civil purposes, energy security and connectivity, etc.

The press office of the Energy Ministry reported that ministers Vassilev and Radev also spoke with the Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt. Minister Vassilev has emphasized the North South project, which ensures optimal connectivity of the energy and transport systems of Romania, Bulgaria, and Greece. Minister Vasilev noted that against the backdrop of the expiring gas transit contract between Russia and Ukraine, the Southern Gas Corridor and the North-South connectivity will become increasingly crucial. For his part, Geoffrey Pyatt pointed out that "Bulgaria deserves tremendous credit for the work it has done to secure alternative gas sources and corridors", the press centre of the Ministry of Energy further reports.
