Constitutional Court decides there will be no referendum against adoption of the euro

The Constitutional Court rejected the request of 49 MPs for a national referendum with the question "Do you agree that the Bulgarian lev should be the only official currency in Bulgaria until 2043?"

Earlier today, dozens of citizens, organized by "Vazrazhdane", protested in front of the Constitutional Court building with smoke bombs, spilled hay and animal feces and blocked traffic in the area.

The leader of the party, Kostadin Kostadinov, defined the rejection on the referendum as an "unprecedented crime" against the will of 604,000 Bulgarians and demanded life imprisonment without parole for the constitutional judges. "The protests continue on Saturday and Sunday, follow us and you will be very surprised," he also said.
