The ninth edition of the Master of Art film festival will open tonight in Sofia with a documentary about Alzek Misheff – the artist who fled communist Bulgaria and made a career in Italy. Flying with Fins is a film about the constant search for meaning in art and life.
"Alzek Misheff, rebel and experimenter, leads us on this philosophical and aesthetic journey through time, space, and ideas," say the organizers of the film Flying with Fins, director Maria Averina. The film features paintings, performances, heated conversations about contemporary art, touching meetings with the closest people and places in Bulgaria after 50 years of separation.
A highlight of the festival program will be the premiere of the film about the great Bulgarian actress Tatyana Lolova, titled "The Last Spectacle". It will be broadcast on her 90th birthday (10 February). After the screening, Georgi Toshev’s book "Tatyana Lolova from A to Z: Notes, Thoughts, Photos" will be presented.
